Earthquake?

The animals sure are restless!  All over the neighborhood dogs are barking at odd times.  My own little barker has been extremely barky and skittish lately.  I have located the flashlights and emergency radio and am ready to rough it for at least 3 days (with Paul and animals, of course...)!  It's very unnerving since we haven't had an earthquake of any significant size since February 2001, consequently we are well overdue.  We used to have them a few times a year (not big ones but 4s and 5s; just big enough to remind you not to put that heavy vase on the edge of the shelf over the bed) but since 2001 we have only had micro-quakes (1s and 2s or even less).  It's a bit unnerving.
Anyway, while waiting for the ground to start shaking I managed to locate $23:
$20 in loose change
$2 in an old purse
$1 lottery winner that I never cashed in but is still valid
DAY TWO TOTAL
$23.00

(So, only $977 left to find and 29 days to do it!  It's something anyway...)

  1. I was living in Mukelteo (is that how you spell it? I forget) when that quake in 2001 happened. Actually, I had to stop writing there for a min or two...that can't be right because my son graduated in 1998 and we were back in Canada by then. So scratch that. WE were there when there was a fairly good one in - I guess about 95 or 96 - my husband and I were at Albertson's and the kids were at home. The shaking was really bad and I was shocked at how loud it was - the roof of the place sounded like it was going to fall in. Anyway, it all stopped - there was about 20 seconds of complete silence - and then a voice came over the intercom; "Scott, clean up on every isle." So funny. But what a mess all of the aisles were. Smashed jars of jam and pickles. Bread all over. All the perfect pyramids of fruit and vegetables scattered on every inch of floor. We got out of there and home to three freaked out kids. Well, two. The girls were freaked out. The son thought it was 'cool'.
